Tidy Kitten Holiday Gift Guide 2017: For the Girls

Updated October 2019

The holidays approach! Whether your love language is gifts or not, who can resist a few well-chosen tokens of affection? Here at Tidy Kitten, we’ve scoured the 2017 offerings and come up with a list of pure indulgences we’d love to find under the tree. Take a look: maybe you’ll find some ideas for the women in your life. See something you’d like on your wish list? Feel free to send this article to boyfriends, best friends, personal shoppers, etc. Or, treat yo’self — you deserve it!

Cuyana Two-Tone Baby Alpaca Scarf in Soft Pink and Ecru, $125

This beautifully soft scarf almost looks like a throw blanket, but you can wear it outside and still look put-together. Chic, even! The color combination of blush and ecru manages to be both on-trend and classic, so you’ll find yourself reaching for this scarf for years to come.

Julianne “Maria” Shorties, $68

These shorties are the ultimate in sophisticated sleepwear: unfussy but so luxe with their flattering cut and delicious satin. You can pair the shorties with their matching cami, but we prefer them styled with a tissue-thin t-shirt for maximum effect. Either way, these are a far cry from your college sweats. The only question is: which color will you get? (Why not one of each?)

Journelle’s Isabel Balconette Bra, $84, with matching bikini, $38, and thong, $32

You can’t go wrong with a set of black lace underthings, and Journelle’s take is pretty much the platonic ideal. But of course it is: the Journelle team took everything they learned from years of selling luxury lingerie and then improved on it when designing their collection. Their whole line is worthy of a Christmas gift, but the Isabel balconette’s combination of classic floral lace and flirty French shape makes for lingerie perfection.

Fleur Du Mal Lily Lace Bodysuit, $275

Anyone else watch Five Foot Two and experience a sudden urge to embrace bodysuits again? They’re a little bit ballet, a little bit rock ‘n roll — and some of the most versatile pieces in our wardrobe. Pair with skinny jeans for a night out, toss on a cardigan for work, or wear alone for a sexy night in. Fleur du Mal has a whole range of bodysuits in sumptuous materials, but we’re partial to their Lily Lace: flattering cut, bold detailing, gorgeous — the bodysuit itself and you in it.

Smitten Kitchen Every Day: Triumphant and Unfussy New Favorites, $35

Every smart dinner party we attend features a Smitten Kitchen dish — or menu. This new cookbook from Deb Perelman has already earned rave review with recipes for everything from meatballs to the divine-sounding chocolate pecan slab pie. You couldn’t call anyone at Tidy Kitten HQ a dab hand in the kitchen, but this cookbook has us reaching for an apron.

HyperIce Vyper 3-Speed Vibrating Foam Roller, $179

A vibrator with a purpose outside Tidy Kitten’s usual purview! This vibrating foam roller can be found at Barry’s Bootcamp classes, and we’re addicted. Nothing can soothe sore muscles quite like it, whether you just finished a sweat session or spent all day hunched over at a computer.

LELO Smart Wand, $168

Obviously, no Tidy Kitten gift guide would be complete without a suggestion for a fun new toy. But buying a vibe for someone else can be tricky — as with makeup and perfume, individual tastes vary wildly. Wands, generally, are a safe bet since they’re a pretty approachable variety, and the LELO Smart Wand is truly giftable thanks to the brand’s signature combo of elegance and power. Note that if you’re buying for Gwyneth Paltrow, you might want to check out LELO’s 24k gold offering for the reasonable price of $15,000. Slip Beauty Sleep Pillow Case, $79, and Sleep Mask, $45

Who gets enough sleep, let alone enough to qualify as “beauty sleep”? Not us, but Slip’s silk sleep accessories (try saying that five times fast!) make crawling into bed feel ultra-luxe. Unlike your run-of-the-mill cotton pillowcase, Slip’s silk versions are easy on your hair to minimize breakage. Their silk eye mask may have some anti-aging benefits, too, treating your sensitive under-eye skin with the delicacy it deserves. Sure, these gifts may seem like frivolous indulgences at first, but a) if you can’t indulge at the holidays, when can you? And b) once you sleep with Slip, you’ll never go back. Trust us.

Diptyque Sampler, $75

Nothing sets the mood quite like candles, especially when the candles in question are Diptyque. Comprised of five mini candles in some of the French brand’s most popular scents, this set is a great gift for the candle-lover on your list. Alternatively, you can divide them up between stockings. Either way, these gorgeous, Instagram-worthy candles are a vast improvement on your everyday Yankee.

Aquazzura Powder Puff 105 Sling Pumps, $795

Aquazzura is the master of surprising detail. Slingback stilettos will always be sexy, but the lush pom-poms here add a touch of unadulterated fun. You just know that any woman sporting these heels has more than just good taste, but a sense of humor, too. And, of course, we love the call back to the fluffy boudoir shoes of bygone Hollywood starlets (and modern-day Rhianna).

The Nancy Mitford Collection from Heywood Hill, $78

As devotees of Nancy Mitford’s charming novels, we find it astonishing that she isn’t better known. Her novels are deceptively cozy comics about the British upper class between the wars. Deceptively because, beneath the froth, they — particularly The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate — contain some poignant truths about relationships that are still relevant today. Pair with a strong mug of tea and this set of six books will leave bookworms delighted for weeks.

Gucci Soho Disco Bag, $1,190

Gucci is THE designer for bags right now, so for those looking to really splash out, this crossbody is a great bet. The camera bag style is versatile enough for Saturday bar hopping and Sunday visits to the farmer’s market, providing just enough room for the essentials. Although it comes in a few different colors, we’re partial to a shocking red. After all, if you’re going to be extravagant — be extravagant!

Levi’s Original Sherpa Trucker Jacket, $128

Jean jackets are having a moment and no one does denim better than Levi’s. They’ve gussied up their classic jacket with a cozy sherpa lining. Wearing it will make you feel like you’re being hugged by your mom — but in a cool, on-trend, female-reincarnation-of-Jordan-Catalano way.
